Many parents feel the need to escape the British weather once their little ones finish school for the summer - but it often comes at a huge cost.
For those not wanting to break the bank this summer Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert website has revealed a huge hack. MSE member Sally Francis has a handy trick to getting your holiday a little cheaper if you fly with Easyjet.
The airline’s ‘flexi fares’ allow customers to switch dates by a few weeks without paying extra, and it works any time of the year - even throughout the summer.
MSE’s hack makes use of the flexi fares by booking on the same route at a less busy time when flights are cheaper - which must be within one week before or three weeks after the date you’d really like to travel - and then switching to the dates you actually want for free.
Customers will usually pay more than a standard flight for a flexi fare ticket but the flexibility to switch flights makes it worth it as long as its cheaper than the cost of a peak time ticket.
There’s also plenty of bonuses to flexi fares including speedy boarding, a seat near the front of the plane, a free 23kg hold luggage per person and up to £7 to spend on onboard food and drinks.
Flights can be changed around 24 hours after booking, as long as there is capacity, and it is worth noting that flexi fares are only available on selected flights and 120 days in advance.
