Money pours in to Wisconsin Senate race

As the Wisconsin Senate race comes down to the wire, outside groups from both sides are pouring in millions in advertising.

Let America Work, a group supporting Sen. Ron Johnson, released an ad Monday that said "enough of the crap." Literally.

"That's why we need Ron Johnson," the ad says. "To cut the crap and keep Hillary Clinton and the Washington politicians from running wild."

At the same time, Senate Majority PAC, a pro-Democratic super PAC supportive of former Sen. Russ Feingold, spent $2 million on an advertisement saying Johnson works primarily for Wall Street instead of the interests of Wisconsinites.

Johnson has long been considered one of the most vulnerable Republican Senate incumbents and has trailed in most polls.

The spending spree comes as Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Tim Kaine is slated to campaign in Wisconsin the same day as Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and his running mate, Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana.

House Speaker Paul Ryan is also supposed to campaign for Johnson in their home state.

The Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report/Roll Call Race Rating rates the race Leans Democrat.
