Money expert Martin Lewis victim of sick death hoax by online scammers

Money expert Martin Lewis has revealed he has been the victim of sick death hoax used in an an advert by online scammers.

Martin, who has been appearing on This Morning on a regular basis since the coronavirus outbreak, to give advice on a range of financial issues including furlough and 'mortgage holidays', was back on the ITV show on Monday morning and stunned hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby with news of the vile hoax.

He interrupted his video link to say: "I've just found out that there's another advert running on lots of online newspapers today to say that I am dead.

"Their scam adverts using the fact that I've died, which is just horrendous at this time. I clearly haven't, but just to say, if you see it, please report it as a lot of people are getting very disturbed by it.

"We all need to act together to try and stop these horrendous scammers.

"Right now to be saying someone's died as a form of advertising when they haven't, it just beggars belief."
