Mondesi continues to show encouraging signs against Cleveland, but Royals lose again

Shortstop Adalberto Mondesi continued to show positive signs at the plate with his first home run of the season, but the Kansas City Royals lost their seventh consecutive game in the series opener against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field on Monday night.

Maikel Franco had three hits and an RBI, while Edward Olivares went 2 for 4 in the Royals' 5-2 loss. Hunter Dozier tripled for the Royals (14-28).

Royals starting pitcher Brad Keller allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings. He did not give up an extra-base hit and walked just one.
