A Scots waitress who says she was tossed out of a restaurant "with her baby in her arms" after being sacked on maternity leave has been awarded thousands of pounds in compensation.

An employment tribunal has heard how Kirsty Blyth was left jobless and struggling to pay her bills when her boss at Black Rooster Peri Peri restaurant in Coatbridge refused to let her return to work.

The new mum says after visiting the restaurant she was "flung out the shop" with her nine week old baby in her arms.

Scots holidaymakers queue outside Edinburgh Airport in 'chaotic scenes’

Passengers faced long delays at Edinburgh Airport (PA)

Scots passengers have been left fuming after facing lengthy queues in the cold outside Edinburgh Airport .

Early morning travellers described the scenes as 'chaotic' as more than one hundred holidaymakers stood outside clutching their suitcases on Monday morning.

A spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport said busy periods were expected in summer months but staff had worked "incredibly hard" to get passengers through.

‘Wee bear’ Rangers fan, 6, dies in drowning tragedy at hotel pool in Majorca

A six-year-old boy who drowned in a hotel swimming pool in Majorca has been named as young Rangers fan Corey Aughey.

The youngster, known as "wee bear" to his heartbroken family, died yesterday afternoon after tragedy struck at an unnamed hotel in the resort of Sa Coma.

His family confirmed he passed away last night after spending a few days in intensive care on life support.

Serial killer Peter Tobin hid Vicky Hamilton's body under rockery in back garden of West Lothian home

A crime scene investigator who helped police nail serial killer Peter Tobin has spoken out for the first time about the murderer’s attempts to cover up his crimes – with a giant rockery.

Peter Faulding, who is one of the world’s leading forensic search experts, was brought in by detectives to rip apart Tobin’s West Lothian old home after they discovered that he lived in the area when Vicky Hamilton ­disappeared in February 1991.

But it was a suspiciously large rockery that led them to the pit where the body of 15-year-old Vicky had been buried before being moved by Tobin when he moved house years later.

A convicted killer slashed the friend of the man he murdered while serving his life sentence .

Anthony Allan, 29, struck James McGaughey in Glasgow's Barlinnie Prison on July 5, 2020.

Allan is on a minimum 18 year stretch for bludgeoning Ryan Richardson, 28, in the city's Shettleston in March 2019.
