Covid vaccine passports to be legally enforced in Scotland from today

Covid vaccine passports will become legally enforced from today in Scotland after a two-week grace period for businesses to get used to the system ended.

The Scottish Government introduced the scheme on October 1, however it allowed firms across the country a period of time to get up and running with it.

Proof of your vaccine status will now be needed to enter late-night venues open after midnight where alcohol is served and there is music and dancing.

Teen arrested in connection with alleged murder of Justin McLaughlin in Glasgow

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Justin McLaughlin following an incident at a Glasgow train station.

Justin was found seriously injured at High Street train station around 3.45pm on Saturday, October 16.

The 14-year-old was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment but sadly could not be saved and was tragically pronounced dead a short time later.

Scotland facing 'polar plunge' for four days with snow expected

Scotland could be facing a four-day 1,000 mile-wide 'polar plunge' from Thursday, with the first substantial snowfalls of winter on high ground.

North of the border will be blustery at times with showers early this week, but dodge the worst of England's 60mph gales and four inches' rain.

But the Met Office said snow is set to hit higher ground in Scotland from Thursday as chilly northerly air arrives - also shown on a map.

Scot refused ambulance thought he would die and started texting goodbyes to loved ones

A hairdresser was told by a hospital doctor to dial 999 if an infection got worse – but was refused an ambulance when he called the emergency line.

Brian Rafferty was so afraid he would die that he started texting goodbyes to his loved ones. The 33-year-old was instructed to get urgent help if the illness spread and his foot turned black and blue.

However, he says he was left fearing for his life when a call handler refused to dispatch medics and referred him to NHS 24. He was then told he’d get a phone appointment within four hours.

Moment 20-tonne bin lorry rolls down Glasgow street crashing into parked cars

This is the terrifying moment a 20-tonne bin truck rolls down the street as its horrified driver desperately tries to stop it smashing into a row of parked cars.

Seeing the massive vehicle begin to pick up speed on the Glasgow street, the refuse collector springs into action, opening the door and clinging on until he is thrown to the floor.

He had got out to knock on a door to ask for a food bin when he suddenly noticed the lorry behind him was rolling backwards.
