More Tales From Northumberland With Robson Green
8pm, ITV

Back again: the show in which Robson Green says “Northumberland” more times than a person can count. Tonight’s scenic episode finds Robson investigating watery activity in the region, from white-beaked dolphins (“What are you doing in Northumberland?”) to cheeky skinny dipping in Druridge Bay (“Northumberlaaand!”). During a trip inland, he visits the former home of William Armstrong, who had a hydroelectricity-powered dishwasher when Victoria was on the throne. John Robinson

Broadchurch
9pm, ITV

After all the efforts of Hardy and Miller, the Sandbrook case is finally reopened and the breathless Scot seems to be recovering nicely from his pacemaker operation. But hearing his gasping, impassioned monologues is a nerve-racking business, as you wonder if he’ll keel over mid-rant. Meanwhile, at the trial, Bishop continues to be the meanest barrister in England and makes Ellie cry again before concluding her case. And Claire drops a bombshell on Hardy as the jury return to deliver their verdict. Julia Raeside

Ukip: The First 100 Days
9pm, Channel 4

Imagining what it would be like if Nigel Farage and friends triumphed in May’s general election, this docudrama combines archive news footage with spoofed media coverage and scripted drama to give us a glimpse of life under Ukip rule. While various Farage rallying speeches are repurposed into an almost chilling Ukip victory lap, the scripted scenes tell the story of Deepa Kaur, the party’s only female Asian MP, who must navigate this new political landscape as well as her own burgeoning leadership ambitions. Rachel Aroesti

Bob Servant
9.30pm, BBC4

Brian Cox blows like a salty hurricane through another episode of this garrulous sitcom. In a moment of madness, Bob lobs a bin bag full of frozen burgers on to the skull of a love rival and is charged with aggravated assault. His regular brief, Objection McNally, is drunk and trouserless, so Bob conducts his own defence, leading to a pleasingly retro courtroom farce in which our man bickers with the jury, calls the judge “Skipper” and asks his nearest and dearest to perjure themselves. He’s a guilty pleasure. Jack Seale

House Of Fools
10pm, BBC2

Vic and Bob return, with Bob’s Nordic son Erik gearing up for a blind date. He’s not keen but, after some cajoling from Vic, agrees. Meanwhile, Beef (Matt Berry) joins Vic and Bob in a band that will celebrate the opening week of Julie’s bistro, brandishing a keytar. Sadly, considering the hoo-hah over whether it might or might not get a second series, things in the house don’t seem anywhere near as sharp as series one – except for Morgana Robinson’s bonkers Julie, of course, who is all swivel-eyed brilliance. Ben Arnold

Why Planes Crash
10pm, Yesterday

Coinciding with many families planning summer getaways, a returning series set to send nervous tourists in the direction of a Hoseasons brochure. Tonight’s tales of terror include an Air Florida 737 taking a deadly diversion through Washington’s 14th Street Bridge before plunging into an icy Potomac River. The stories of the survivors deserve to be told but the bombastic presentation – not dissimilar to Stewart Lee and Richard Herring’s When Insects Attack – rather lessens the gravitas of their accounts. Mark Jones

Last Week Tonight With John Oliver
11.10pm, Sky Atlantic

The British-born protege of The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart returns with his acclaimed show, in which he waxes derisive and with high moral disdain on the events of the last seven days. He’ll have no shortage of subject matter, internationally or domestically. Oliver could never have sustained a career like this in the UK for, as bad as things may be, they’re no match for the parlous state and appalling characters of 21st-century American politics. Hence the gulf between this and Mock The Week. David Stubbs
