Over the Garden Wall
6pm, Cartoon Network
A voice cast featuring Elijah Wood, Melanie Lynskey and Christopher Lloyd heads up this Cartoon Network miniseries created by Adventure Time alumnus Patrick McHale. It follows two half-brothers, Wirt and Greg, as they try to find their way out of a creepy forest called the Unknown, meeting a host of bizarre creatures en route. There’s a lovely autumnal hue to the animation and enough sly humour to keep the adults entertained, although it can’t quite match the anarchic brilliance of McHale’s former show. Continues all week. Gwilym Mumford
Antiques Roadshow Detectives
7pm, BBC2
Tradition might dictate that those heading towards Antiques Roadshow trestle tables with trinkets in hand are motivated by hard cash, but many participants are primarily seeking insight into their family history. This new series – continuing throughout the week – promises to uncover the truth behind historic heirlooms. The opening episode includes an exploration into one of the Roadshow’s most intriguing offerings: a rare artefact from Oliver Cromwell’s funeral. Mark Jones
Code of a Killer
9pm, ITV
David Threlfall and John Simm star in this top-quality, fact-based drama. The scene is 1980s Leicestershire, where two teenage girls have been raped and murdered. Threlfall is the doughty and careworn investigating officer David Baker, but major offstage developments are under way via Dr Alec Jeffreys (Simm). He is in the process of isolating DNA types (or “genetic fingerprinting”), a process that will ultimately help snare the killer. Great performances, gripping storytelling and a neat fusion of fact and drama. John Robinson
My Big Fat Gypsy Grand National
9pm, Channel 4
Having long since given weddings the heave-ho, the Big Fat Gypsy … franchise now relishes in charting key occasions in the lives of Travellers, from christenings and Christmases to the great rite of passage that is, erm, a day at the races. The Grand National in 2014 was the first time that some of the cast had braved the event, while others – including infamous ex-bare-knuckle boxer Paddy Doherty – are no strangers to Aintree. With a hen party also in attendance, expect big wins, bigger losses and tans bright enough to cause retinal damage. Hannah J Davies
Gotham
9pm, Channel 5
Julian Sands’s Gerald Crane continues to harvest adrenal glands like a deranged Heston Blumenthal might do sweetbreads. The reason for this behaviour? Crane is seeking a cure for fear, which he will be able to use on his son Jonathan (the young man who will soon head off on a road to villainy as the Scarecrow). Elsewhere, and with the help of Don Falcone, Cobblepot gets into the nightclub business, while Fish Mooney makes a play for power in the purgatoryesque prison in which she has found herself. Ben Arnold
Made In Chelsea Does Come Dine With Me
10pm, E4
The once-ubiquitous real-life dining-room drama finally seemed to run out of steam a couple of years ago, and now spends its time industriously filling the daytime schedules of Channel 4 and its offshoots instead of being an event in itself. Teaming up with a band of Made In Chelsea regulars should inject a sliver of residual excitement, though. Here, Jamie Laing, Louise Thompson, Georgia Toffolo (known on the show as “Toff”) and Alex Mytton each host their own party. Rachel Aroesti
How to Be a Young Billionaire
10.30pm, Channel 4
This documentary follows three young British entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley (where only one in 10 technology startups survive) attempting to Zucker-punch their way into the apps market. That’s Robyn, 28, who plans to make a splash with her lesbian dating app Dattch; struggling marketer Julia, 21; and golden boy Josh, 22, who’s having investor trouble. “If you don’t keep growing, you’re going to die … figuratively,” he adds hastily.
