Wimbledon 2015
11.30am, BBC2
A changing of the guard is overdue in world tennis. Serena Williams appears to have reasserted her dominance of the women’s game, while Novak Djokovic, now 28, remains the men’s No 1, with the likes of Federer, Nadal and Murray still very much in the mix. Where are the new wunderkinder coming to break up this formidable clique? Perhaps this will be the year in which new names emerge and the rain keeps off for a glorious, memorable fortnight. Maybe. Djokovic is first up on Centre Court today. David Stubbs
Superfoods: The Real Story
8.30pm, Channel 4
The idea of grub that has health-giving qualities has become central to our food culture. But is there really anything to the idea that kelp can improve your eyesight, or that grapefruit might be used to fight fat? Then there’s the sugar substitute xylitol – could it actually be good for your teeth? Kicking off a four-part series, Kate Quilton investigates the health benefits of so-called superfoods. Along the way, she meets scientists, nutritionists and dieticians as she tries to sort truth from marketing hype. Jonathan Wright
RHS Hampton Court Palace flower show 2015
9.30pm, BBC2
This year’s Hampton Court Palace flower show runs from 30 June to 5 July, and this preview, hosted by Monty Don, Rachel de Thame and Joe Swift, offers some idea of what to expect. The event’s 25th anniversary is a cue to reflect on its beginnings, via interviews with some exhibitors who have come every year. Also featuring are the Historic Roses Group – an organisation devoted to the cultivation of roses of historical significance – and a meander through the Hampton Court maze. Andrew Mueller
Episodes
10pm, BBC2
Much like the shows within the show, Episodes is never quite conclusively a failure. But it’s never essential viewing, either. As we approach the climax of season four, Matt’s life is curdling into a dispiriting procession of acrimonious lunch meetings, drunken late-night embarrassments and daily reminders of approaching obsolescence. And now the ultimate humiliation: he’s so desperate for money that he’s having to do a gameshow. Episodes is just about kept afloat by some decent performances, but the clock is surely ticking. Phil Harrison
Under the Dome
10pm, Channel 5
You’d imagine – hope, even – that the makers of Under the Dome might have exhausted their line in increasingly demented plot tangents, but not so. We’re back at Chester’s Mill for season three, and, in the aftermath of Dean “Big Jim” Norris’s red-mist rampage at the end of the last season, things are more uncertain than ever. Now, some of the residents are outside the forcefield that encloses the town, while others remain inside, leading to factions emerging, new threats building and the formation of some surprising alliances. Ben Arnold
My Mad Fat Diary
10pm, E4
Rae Earl’s superior tale of teenage angst continues with Chloe lying in a hospital bed after a car crash while her parents look for answers from her friends. Rae takes the blame and finds herself banned from Chloe’s bedside as a result. Even the promise of the best mixtape ever (“from the Divine Comedy to DJ Shadow”) can’t rectify the situation. Can things get any worse? Yes, they can – her exams are about to begin, and her dad (Keith Allen) appears in the record shop looking for a bit of Elton John. Hannah Verdier
The Brink
10.10pm, Sky Atlantic
It’s an indication of just how many Hollywood names have migrated to TV that this geopolitical satire starring Tim Robbins and Jack Black has gone largely unnoticed by many. That said, it might be down to the fact that The Brink isn’t very good, lacking the vibrant wit of Veep and offering up a tired and unattractive cynicism instead. This week, US diplomat Talbot (Black) is given a grilling by Pakistan’s new military regime, while secretary of state Larson (Robbins) tries to dissuade the president from taking drastic action.
