Monaghan legend Dick Clerkin released from hospital after hip replacement aged just 40

Ex-Monaghan football star Dick Clerkin has been released from hospital after undergoing surgery to replace a hip. Clerkin shared an image on his Twitter page of him smiling with a thumbs up as he left the facility earlier today.

Clerkin had been keeping his followers updated of his progress over the last few days and also shared a cheery image of himself on Tuesday morning following surgery the day before.

Clerkin played for Monaghan for 17 years alongside a 20 year stint at his club side Currin. The wear and tear of those years finally caught up with him and meant a hip replacement was necessary at just 40 years old.
