The protective glass Mona Lisa has been left smeared with cake by an environmentalist who is understood to have disguised himself as an old woman.
Leonardo da Vinci’s painting, widely considered to be the most famous in the world, was attacked by a man asking people to “think of the planet”.
He is reported to have disguised himself as an old woman, by sitting in a wheelchair and wearing lipstick and a wig.
