Moments the Mexican navy ship struck the Brooklyn Bridge

The vessel Cuauhtémoc was carrying 277 people when it collided with the bridge while reversing on the East River. Several crew members were left suspended in the ship’s rigging following the impact.

Footage showed the masts snapping one by one as the ship made impact.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said 19 people required medical treatment, but the 142-year-old bridge did not sustain major damage.

The Mexican navy identified the vessel as a training ship, and authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collision.
