Moments that prove Liverpool is the funniest place in the world

It's a widely known fact that Scousers have a great sense of humour and are always up for a laugh.

And there have been many moments across the city that have proved our wit is something else.

But you don't even have to be a Scouser to be intoxicated by the laughing bug in Liverpool.

From Alison Hammond visiting the Royal Albert Dock to Scouse builders having a laugh in their vans - there is nowhere like it.

We take a look at some of the most hilarious moments that prove Liverpool is the funniest place in the world.

Ya Ma

(Graffiti Spirits Group)

Liverpool’s famous toilet graffiti is always a highlight on a night out.

No matter what your age is, the random jokes found on toilet bathroom doors and walls can certainly make you chuckle.

Especially the 'Ya Ma' gags.

Earlier this year, ECHO readers sent in their own jokes which left us howling.

Here's two of our favourites:

  • "Ya ma is ya da with a wig on."
  • "Ya ma think Ringo is the best Beatle."

Pete Price

The Radio Host can't shake off his nickname, 'Pete Price 'The Lizard''.

What started of as a joke on his radio talk show, soon became a catchphrase, that at one point became so popular it trended worldwide on Twitter.

This escalated when a flag was held up by a member of the crowd at a packed out ECHO arena wrestling show, displaying the message "Pete Price is a lizard."

Three years on, the joke is still going and Pete is often heard encouraging it himself.

Football matches

Attending a football match is a unique experience in itself.

But when Caff Caffrey told the ECHO about what he'd overheard at a Liverpool match, we were left in stitches.

He said: "Lad next to me while I was watching a match with Villa playing. Agbonlahor scored for Villa and the lad put his head in his hands.

"I said to him 'what's up mate?' and he said 'I was going to put £10 on him first goal scorer but I couldn't spell it so I done Heskey'."

Scouse builders

Hilarious viral video of Scouse builders having a laugh

This hilarious video of Scouse builders having a laugh in their van went viral in 2015.

In the video, originally posted by Jay Daley, the men can be seen debating a maths question in the front of their van.

One man asks: "If you're going 200mph and you've got 200 miles to go, how long will that take you?"

A second man simply replies: "Quick, like."

Putting the question in a different context, the lads then consider how long a shorter journey might take them if they travelled on foot.

One man then delivers the line: "If I was jogging seven miles at seven miles-an-hour into town, it would take me about - two hours."

Alison Hammond

This morning weather map returns to Albert Dock as Alison Hammond presents the weather

As This Morning celebrated its 30 year anniversary, Alison Hammond was on the Albert Dock ready to present the weather.

But, as Alison was just getting into the swing of weather reporting, things took a turn for the worse when one of her helpers fell face first into the Albert Dock.

The media personality attempted to jump from England to Northern Ireland on the map, but in turn managed to push one of the men helping her across into the Albert Dock.

Yer Da

(Ghetto Golf)

We've covered 'ya ma' but of course we can't forget 'ya da' jokes.

Last month, we asked you to share the funniest your da jokes you've ever heard or seen scribbled on toilet doors - and you did not disappoint.

Here's two of our favourites.

  • 'Ye da sits at the top of the stairs and pretends he's The Chaser'
  • 'Ya da makes sand dogs outside Lush'

Greggs seagull

The cheeky seagull who shoplifts from Greggs every morning

If you’re a regular customer at Greggs Liverpool ONE , there’s a chance you’ll have spotted the shoplifting bird.

A worker at Greggs filmed one such incident and put it on Twitter, stating that seagulls “rob from our work every morning”.

In the hilarious clip, the seagull approaches the glass doors slowly, before heading inside to quickly peck at the crisps -  and before you know it, it's off.

Callum Smith 'porn noise' prank

Hilarious moment boxing press conference is interrupted by 'porn noise prank'

Earlier this year, Callum 'Mundo' Smith was caught out by a sneaky 'porn noises' phone prank.

The hilarious incident was caught on camera at a boxing press conference ahead of Liverpool's March event headlined by Callum's brother Liam Smith.

As fellow Scouser and undercard Anthony Fowler was speaking to the media, he was interrupted by the rude noises blaring from the audience - prompting giggles all round.

It soon became clear Callum, who was in the audience, was the culprit.

'Mary loves Dick'

Derek Acorah on Most Haunted - 'Mary Loves Dick'

Whilst this incident didn't take place in Liverpool, we're certain locals were behind it.

Back in 2017, Bootle psychic Derek Acorah entered the Celebrity Big Brother to the cries of 'Mary loves Dick'.

An odd phrase to hear if you don't know the story behind it.

In a time before Netflix, Derek was appearing on a ghost hunting show to allow the dead to talk through him.

The 67-year-old became possessed by Mary, who proceeded to confess her love for Dick. Repeatedly.

Through the clairvoyant Mary told Yvette Fielding: "Mary loves Dick. Mary loves Dick. Mary loves Dick."

It never gets old.
