A kidnap victim broke free from the trunk of her captor’s car when he stopped at a petrol station.
The unamed female victim's escape was captured on CCTV. The vehicle can be seen pulling up to the pump at the Alabama station.
The kidnapper then gets out and walks into the convenience store.
Shortly afterwards, the woman managed to pop open the trunk from inside it.
She then ran into the shop and approached the clerk, while her captor quickly fled the scene after he figured out what was happening.
Timothy Wyatt, 36, is alleged to have taken the victim from a motel room in Autauga County, Alabama, in the dead of night.
Police told the al.com news outlet that he broke into the room while she was sleeping, choked her and demanded money.
He then allegedly tied her hands behind her back and forced her into a blue, four-door Ford Taurus. Police said he threatened to stab the woman while he was driving.
Mr Wyatt has now been taken into custody.
