Moment woman dials 999 from hairdressers to report bad hairdo

Police have released audio of a woman calling 999 to report a bad hair colour, in a bid to prevent time-wasters.

The woman rang to ‘report an emergency’ that her hair had been coloured orange instead of blonde after asking for highlights.

She told the responder that the hairdresser ‘wouldn’t ring the police for her’ after the treatment.

She said: “I’m here in the hairdressers here in Bowmen.

“I'm getting my hair done. I asked for blonde highlights and she put orange in my hair.”

After the responder tells her that she’s not taking the call due to it not being a life threatening emergency, the frantic woman replies: “I’m leaving the hairdressers but I’m not paying her any money because my hair is orange and I have to go and get my hair fixed.”

Some of the most bizarre 999 calls made in 2019

She continued to argue her case for reporting the matter, before the responder cut her off, saying: “I’m not listening to this call on a 999, I’m afraid.”

The bizarre call comes after a flood of time-wasters dialling 999 for matters ranging .

One person dialled 999 last year to report that they thought a sheep was trying to eat their kids, while another was jailed for simply belching down the phone .

Police are urging people to only dial 999 in an emergency, as wasting police time delays people in real emergencies from getting the best possible service.
