Moment woman dances in front of lion after climbing into zoo enclosure in 'serious violation'

This is the moment a woman climbed into a zoo’s lion enclosure and made gestures at one of the animals as it stood mere feet away from her.

In the clip, the woman can be seen standing in front of the lion while repeatedly waving and dancing.

The incident occurred on September 28 at the African Lion exhibit in the Bronx Zoo, New York.

Bronx Zoo said the incident amounted to a "serious violation that could have resulted in serious injury or death".

A spokesman said: "This action was a serious violation and unlawful trespass that could have resulted in serious injury or death.

"Barriers and rules are in place to keep both visitors, staff and animals safe.

“We have a zero tolerance policy on trespass and violation of barriers."

The Bronx Zoo have filed a complaint for criminal trespass, according to CNN.

Police said no arrests had been made.

The woman has not been identified.
