Moment vehicle forced off road in dangerous driving incident in Sydney

This is the moment dashcam footage caught a perilous encounter between two drivers in Australia.

Police released the footage of the incident on a road south west of Sydney as part of a public appeal for information.

Initially posted on social media, the clip shows a vehicle and a small truck travelling in the right lane.

The vehicle tries to overtake the truck by using the hard shoulder, but the truck swerves to block the vehicle.

The incident occurred southbound on the Hume Highway at Menangle about 6.45am on Saturday, police said.

Officers have since identified and charged the truck driver following the appeal.

The driver of the truck, a 47-year-old man from Ruse, attended the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command headquarters in Huntingwood about 4pm on Wednesday.

The man will be issued a Court Attendance Notice for drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous and is due to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on August 4.

Police said enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver of the other vehicle.

It comes as nine motorists were charged following separate speeding and reckless driving incidents across Sydney yesterday.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander, Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy, said there had been too many speeding and dangerous drivers getting behind the wheel overnight.

“It beggars belief that people are flagrantly flouting road rules and putting other road users at risk,” he said.

“Even one car stopped for speeding is one too many and disappointing to see.

"Our officers will continue to conduct speed enforcement duties and patrol areas to ensure our roads are safe.”
