Police have released footage of the moment a callous thief attempts to halt a pursuit by throwing his helmet at coppers.
Footage of the high-speed chase shows the two men speeding along country lanes near Withernwick, Hull.
The dramatic footage then shows the passenger's helmet flying towards the police car after being thrown into the road, reports Hull Live.
Posting the footage on their Humber Roads Police Twitter account, Humberside Police said the men had been responsible for a "two-day crime wave" in Hull.
They said: “Stolen motorbike, two offenders responsible for a two day crime wave in Hull. Pursued through East riding earlier today. Passenger thought by removing his helmet we would abort the pursuit!”
The driver of the bike, who was still wearing his helmet, lost control of the motorbike and was forced to flee on foot.
Footage from the police helicopter shows the two men frantically running through a field.
After ‘letting them run a few miles’ across the muddy fields, police eventually managed to catch the offenders.
They tweeted: “Two very wet, muddy and tired offenders in custody… We will use all available tactics against motorbike crime.”
