Moment terrifying knifeman bursts into Leeds Cash Converters and jumps over the counter

An investigation has been launched after staff at a Cash Converters store in Leeds were threatened by a thug brandishing a large knife on Christmas Eve.

On December 24 shortly before 5pm, a man with a knife entered the store in York Road, Killingbeck, and began demanding cash.

The suspect, who wearing covering his face with a helmet, attempted to jump over the counter and break into a jewellery cabinet, West Yorkshire Police have said.

He left empty-handed and escaped on the back of a motorcycle ridden by a second suspect.

The force has now launched a public appeal following the attempted robbery.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Both males had their faces covered with helmets but detectives are appealing for anyone who may recognise them from their clothing.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 908 Thimm at Leeds District CID quoting reference 13210664267.
