Moment stray dogs pull baby girl to safety after she was dumped in sewage drain

Dramatic footage shows the moment two stray dogs rescued a newborn baby girl who had been dumped in a sewage drain.

The infant, thought to have been premature, was dumped just hours after being born in Haryana, India on Thursday morning.

Miraculously, the heroic dogs spotted the crying baby in the drain and pulled her to safety.

They then started barking which alerted passersby who informed police.

The baby, who was wrapped in polythene, was taken to hospital where doctors said she sustained head injuries.

The infant is currently being treated at Kaithal civil hospital and her condition is described as 'critical', Times of India reports .

"She is likely a premature baby born after seven months of pregnancy," said Kaithal civil hospital’s principal medical officer Dinesh Kansal.

Doctors have said they are unable to move the injured baby to a bigger hospital due to her critical condition.

It is thought police have registered a case against an unidentified woman for the crime.
