Moment soggy England fans sing 'why does it always rain on me' as heavens open ahead of Euro 2020 match

This is the moment England fans broke into song as the heavens opened ahead of the Euro 2020 game.

A group of soggy fans outside the Crown and Kettle in Ancoats gave their own rendition of 'why does it always rain on me' during the quick downpour.

Free ponchos had been away in preparation with every pint outside the pub - in true Manchester fashion.

Despite a yellow warning of thunderstorms for our region, scores of England fans have ventured out to watch the match.

The weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for much of the region tonight.

And although fans appeared to have got soaked as the heavens opened ahead of the game, it doesn't appear to have dampened anyone's spirits.

Thousands of England supporters ventured out this evening across the city to watch England play Ukraine in the EURO 2020 quarter-final fixture.

Supporters have packed out a dedicated fan park at Event City in Trafford.

Tables of six separated by metal fencing means fans can watch the game on a big screen with the kind of atmosphere we've all missed over the last 18 months.

The Northern Quarter is also packed with fans donning England shirts and cradling pints.

Fans outside the Oast House also grabbed their water-proof ponchos as the rain came down thick and fast.

According to the Met Office, from 9pm onwards there is no more rain scheduled for our region until tomorrow.

Either way, it seems Manchester has got it covered.
