Moment seagull dive bombs Scots girl for ice cream before bird crashes onto pavement

A trio of Scots have hilariously captured the moment a greedy seagull ruined their Instagram ice cream photo.

Amy Wilson, 23, and friends Megan Rooney and Gillian Scott were visiting St Andrews when the attack occurred.

Amy explained that she'd just bought an ice cream around the corner from the hugely popular Janettas Galería when she decided to take a photo of her impressive looking cone.

Though Amy joked that they were too traumatised to even go back for another cone, the trio from Motherwell were able to laugh about it afterward.

Posting on her Twitter account, Amy shared her photo of the cone, with the tag line "Insta vs Reality", before adding screenshots from friend Gillian's video which hilariously capture the moment the seagull dive bombs them, sending their cones flying.

Amy said: "We had just gotten around the corner from Janettas Galería in St Andrews. We had noticed the seagull when we’re walking past but it just seemed to be looking about.

"We didn’t expect it to attack us for our ice cream. I'd only managed to grab a few bites before it happened."

She added that the seagull then happily set about devouring the cones that the pair had thrown away in their panic.

The tweet, which has had nearly 5,000 likes, saw others stating that the exact same thing had happened to them in almost the same spot, making it likely that the seagull is a repeat offender.

One person joked that St Andrew's seagulls were "lethal" while another added that this was their "worst nightmare".

Amy jokingly confirming that it was the "stuff of nightmares".

The brazen thief is yet to be apprehended.
