Moment pals who tackled knifeman bumped into him in the street the next day

This is the moment two security workers encountered a knife man the day after they pinned him to the floor during a citizen’s arrest.

Kyle Kennedy and Alfie Cawley detained  Ruslanas Fedotovas  during the early hours of February 4. The men suspected he was a burglar and then pinned him to the floor when they discovered that he had a knife.

The Liverpool men then handed Fedotovas over to police after they were called to the scene in Gilead Street in  Kensington.

The next day the two men agreed to meet up with  ECHO  photographer Colin Lane when they spotted Fedotovas in the street.

Colin managed to take some snaps of the men talking to the suspect, who was later charged with possession of a knife and burglary.

Colin, a veteran photographer, said: “You could not have made this up. Kyle and Alfie spotted him cycling past down Kensington high street.”

On Wednesday, Fedotovas, 47 was handed a 12 month prison sentence at Liverpool Crown court. He had pleaded guilty to possession of a knife and burglary.

Kyle, who runs security firm Citywatch UK with Alfie, said: “We are pleased with yesterday’s sentencing of Ruslanas Fedotovas. After causing so much devastation in our community it is a great result to have this dangerous offender behind bars with a deportation notice issued to keep him off our streets.

"This is an amazing first result for CityWatch and we aim to progress this work to ensure our communities are made safer for everyone.”

Alfie had encountered Fedotovas during the early hours of February 3 after someone tried to break-in to his house.

Alfie spotted Fedotovas near Everton Park but feared he might have a knife so let him go.

The following night he went back out with his pal Kyle, and both men wore stab vests.

The two men posted footage of the citizen’s arrest on social media, and told the ECHO that they did not want to be seen as vigilantes.

Kyle and Alfie, both experienced security workers, urged members of the public to call police and not to try and detain suspects on their own.
