The Thai men's football team are confident that they will beat Vietnam in their last Group B game today and reach the semi-finals.
Two-time defending champions Thailand and Vietnam have 10 points from four matches but the Vietnamese have a superior goal difference of plus-11 to the Thais' plus-six.
Vietnam only need a draw to advance to the final-four round of the U22 tournament.
The War Elephants will still progress to the semi-finals with a draw with Vietnam if Indonesia, who are third in Group B on eight points, fail to beat Cambodia by three goals.
Both matches kick off at 3pm Thai time.
The top two teams of Group B will join Malaysia and Myanmar from Group A in the semi-finals.
"We are confident that we will advance to the semi-finals. Our players know that they have to do to reach the semi-finals. I think the Vietnamese are under more pressure," said Thailand coach Worrawoot Srimaka.
"The Vietnamese have a good attacking game. We have to be careful in our defence. We also have to be sharp up front. We are still the number one team in Asean. We will do our best to take home the gold medal as a gift for all Thais."
Worrawoot said he would make some changes to the starting line-up as Chaiyawat Buran is suspended.
The Thai team will receive a one- million-baht bonus from the Football Association of Thailand if they beat Vietnam.
In the women's football event, Thailand will meet the Philippines in their last round-robin match today.
Thailand and Vietnam each have seven points with the Thais enjoying a superior goal difference of plus-seven to Vietnam's plus-five.
Thailand's match kicks off at 3pm while Vietnam face Malaysia at 7.45pm.
Thailand had called for the final matches to be played at the same time but the organisers refused their request.
Thailand coach Spencer Prior said: "This gives Vietnam an unfair advantage because they will know what they have to do after we have played the Philippines."
