Moment mum's surprise Disneyland Paris trip for twins backfires spectacularly

Parents have been left stunned after a family's attempt to surprise twins with a trip to Disneyland Paris backfired when one of the children burst into tears - saying she'd rather go to school.

Heather Lisle, 32, fooled her twin daughters, Poppy and Ruby, six, by telling them they were dropping their gran at the airport before class.

But when the family arrived at Southampton airport, Heather and her partner Tom, 30, surprised the girls with boarding passes.

Delighted, Ruby pretended to faint into her mum's arms but Poppy burst into tears.

"Poppy kicked off massively and started crying for no reason because she wanted to go to school first and go to Disney afterwards," said Heather.

Explaining how she pulled off the prank, she added: "The night before I told them their teacher had just emailed and it was a non-school uniform day. They said that was really cool.

"We said we were dropping their nan at the airport and that's why we had the big suitcase out because we were letting her borrow it."

However, the children were keen to make it to school on time. "It was Ruby's turn to take the register down to the office so she was getting really irate and stroppy saying if we made her late then we were going to be in trouble and Poppy was in her own little world.

"When we got to the airport, we started the video in the car park. They were saying 'why are we here? we're going to be late' and literally kicking off."

Fortunately, both children ended up loving the holiday - and even wanted to stay longer.

"Ruby's was more of the reaction I expected, we got a 50/50 split. Once we told her she'd meet Mickey and Minnie and I gave her some food she came round. They were being really impatient and wanted to get on the plane."

Heather added: "They absolutely loved it. When we left Disney, Poppy was hysterically crying saying she didn't want to leave and begging me to stay for one more day so a completely opposite reaction.

"I've tried to instil Disney in them over the years because I'm beyond massive Disney fan but they didn't really take to it until we got there. Now we're watching Disney films every other day."

She also shared her family's own video on social media, where it received thousands of reactions from parents who found the exchange hilarious.

"This would legit be my kids," said one. A second agreed: "I can legit imagine this being my two girl's reactions. Brilliant video."

Someone else revealed: "We did this with my grandchildren but told them we were going to Legoland which we'd been to several times. When we told them my eight-year-old grandson cried because he'd been looking at the new rides at Legoland. Once there we had a great time."
