Moment Marbella gunman pulls weapon from trousers before blasting four people

This is the horror moment a man identified as the gunman who allegedly shot four people including an Irishman at a Costa del Sol club pulls a gun from his trousers.

Detectives have yet to comment on the chilling photo, showing the man in shorts and a dark T-shirt next to another identically-dressed person who is seen in video footage taking his shirt off seconds later to prepare for a fight.

At least five people, including the alleged gunman, were injured in the shooting in the early hours of Monday.

The fight is believed to have involved two groups in a VIP area of the Opium Beach Club in Marbella, Spain at roughly 1.10am.

Brits have told how they were left fearing for their lives after a gun and knife fight broke out at the beach club.

According to local media reports, a fight broke out where firearms and knives were brandished, with one of the group opening fire in the crowded club.

A Dutchman, suspected of shooting four people including an unnamed Irishman and a Moroccan woman who was also rushed to intensive care, is currently being quizzed by police.

He's due to appear in court after being released from Marbella's Costa del Sol Hospital yesterday lunchtime.

A spokesman for the hospital confirmed three of the five people treated after the Opium Beach Club incident had been released.

They include two men aged 18 and 36 who suffered gunshot wounds but whose condition on Monday was not described as serious.

The younger of the casualties is thought to have escaped life-threatening injuries because the bullet hit a wallet in his front pocket.

The hospital spokesman was not able to offer any immediate updates on the unnamed Irishman, who was shot in the chest, or a 32-year-old woman thought to be from Morocco who was shot in the backside.

One horrified tourist from North London, 32, who was caught up in the traumatic incident told The Sun : "Four deafening shots rang out right next to me.

“Everyone panicked, running straight towards us.

“I landed on three shisha pipes and was left sobbing on the floor in agony from burns to my feet and thighs.”

After the four shots rang out, it's reported that people began to scream and attempted to escape the bar, causing a stampede on the dance floor as panic erupted.

Police were quickly on the scene and it has been reported that there were 18 police cars and at least three ambulances.

In shocking footage, blood can be seen splattered across the dance floor while a woman helps another who was lying on the floor.

South African DJ Black Coffee, whose real name is Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, performed in front of around 4,000 fans at the Opium Beach Club on Sunday night.

A British ex-pat who was among the revellers said: “There was an initial problem in the VIP area which the bouncers sorted and led to one person being taken away. The shooting occurred during a second incident about ten minutes later.

“The talk is that there was a fight between rich Russians and Arabs after the guy who had been taken away came back in but no one’s confirmed it yet.

“They were swinging around those massive bottles of Belvedere Vodka and the bouncers charged back to try to sort it out and that’s when the shooting started.

“I was with my husband and he just flung himself on top of me because at one point the gunman seemed to be shooting out into the crowd.

“There was real mad panic and everyone just rang for the exits. It was all very confusing.”

Another person caught up in the terrifying shooting was Dutch Love Island star Kelly van der Minne.

As she walked home from the beach club, she told her 100,000 Instagram followers: "I'm not joking, I was at the club Opium in Marbella and someone just got shot, a girl at a table next to us just got shot.

"This is like the craziest thing that's ever happened, what the f***.

"She got shot in the butt, they got into an argument and she got shot in the butt. How does this happen?"

Some initial reports said a woman died in the incident, but police have confirmed there were no deaths.

Police added that they were still looking for the weapon - and the man who stabbed the suspected gunman before he opened fire - after a dramatic photo of the alleged gunman was published locally.

Today, it was claimed the suspected gunman threatened a paramedic who was attending a drunk outside the venue where the shooting occurred to get him to take him to hospital after he was stabbed in the head, back and neck by a reveller police say they are still hunting.

Detectives haven't ruled out the theory the gun could have been hidden inside the nightclub, which remains closed, although they are believed to be focusing on the possibility it was handed to a third person who has not yet been identified.

A police source confirmed this morning: “The weapon used in the multiple shooting has not yet been found.

“Two people including the suspected gunman, a Dutch national aged 40, remain under arrest.

“Detectives are still hunting the man who stabbed the suspected gunman.”

Marbella Town Hall spokesman Felix Romero has described the incident as a “one-off occurrence” and insisted: “Marbella is a very safe place.”

Juan Rambla, vice-president of a regional nightclub association, added: “Shootings like this occur in unexpected places by someone who is not alright or by members of the public no-one wants around.”
