Moment man casually pours liquid over cars before they burst into flames in shocking attack

CCTV footage captured the shocking moment a car went up in flames after an arson attack in Oldham.

The clip showed a person, believed to be a man, walking down Anchor Street near a row of cars before the blaze broke out. The man appeared to pour some liquid onto the car before it rapidly became engulfed in flames.

Four cars were damaged in the arson attack which police have described as a 'deliberate act'. The force said no arrests have made at this stage.

Anyone who has any information about the incident, or who knows the person in the CCTV, is now being urged to come forward.

Police Constable Sarah Holland, of GMP's Oldham district, said: "This was a deliberate act that fortunately didn't result in any injuries. We are keen to speak to the person in the CCTV or anyone who was in the area at the time who may have some information."

Any information can be passed to police online via the LiveChat facility, if able, or by calling 101 quoting incident 517 of 09/05/2022. Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
