Moment knifeman who left his victim for dead caught hiding under loft insulation

A knifeman who left his victim for dead was caught by police hiding under loft insulation.

James Pedley, 41, of Elder Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, left his victim with serious injuries after he repeatedly stabbed him during a brawl on 11 October, 2025. Pedley then fled the scene.

Nottinghamshire Police officers responded to calls from an eye-witness and discovered the victim, a man in his 40s, lying on the floor covered in blood.

They were later able to track Pedley to an address in Dalestorth Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, where Kurt Horton and Tracey Hoff were living. He was found hiding under loft insulation and in between floor beams.

On Friday (27 March), Pedley was jailed for a total of 14 years after being found guilty of committing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Hoff, 37, of Newcastle Street, Huthwaite, and Horton, 34, of Sherwood Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, have both pleaded guilty to assisting an offender and will be sentenced at a later date.
