Moment kayaker catches brilliant footage of baby porpoises swimming in the Forth near Edinburgh

A Fife man has shared footage of a magnificent encounter he had while out kayaking on the Forth at the weekend.

Jason Canning, from Dalgety Bay, was enjoying a day out in the sunshine on Easter Sunday when he managed to get up close and personal with a couple of baby porpoises.

After seeing them swimming close to his kayak he decided to capture the footage so he could share the incredible moment with others.

In a 30 second video you can clearly see the mammals diving in and out of the water.

Porpoises can be found all along the Scottish coastline, with several sightings in the Forth down the years.

According to Scottish Natural Heritage they tend to be seen either alone or in small groups. They are only really found in larger groups when there is an abundance of food such as small fish, squid, octopus and shellfish.

Jason told Edinburgh Live that seeing the porpoises in the water was an "incredible experience to match the incredible weather".
