Moment firefighters rescued disabled man 'marooned' in mud in Stapleford

Firefighters have released a picture of the moment they rescued a disabled man who became "marooned" in the mud.

The incident happened in Baulk Lane in Stapleford at around 10.23am on Monday, January 3.

Crews from Stapleford and Highfield Fire Station were called to the scene, with the man being led to safety via a gravel path.

Water rescue equipment was worn by the crews involved at the extremely muddy incident near the Stapleford cemetery.

A spokesperson for Stapleford Fire Station said: "This morning our team, supported by the specialist rescue team from Highfields Fire Station attended The area between Baulk Lane Stapleford and Cemetery Road Stapleford.

"A disabled gentleman was reported as being marooned in the mud.

"Firefighters wearing water rescue equipment freed him from the mud and led him to safety."
