Moment driver caught watching TV while cruising down the M6

A driver was caught by police cruising down the M6 while watching TV on his phone.

Officers managed to capture footage of the motorist as they drove along the motorway near Stafford this afternoon.

The Central Motorway Police Group, which covers motorways in the West Midlands and Staffordshire, posted the video on Twitter.

It shows the officers pull up alongside the car before zooming in on its window where you can see a TV show playing on the drivers' phone, which is mounted on the windscreen.

The force commented: "Lane one of the M6 at Stafford in the roadworks section is not an acceptable place to catch up on the TV!"

Staffordshire Police said the driver, a 38-year-old from Stoke, was given "a telling off and £100 fine".
