Moment dog drives in reverse circles around cul-de-sac for an hour after his owner gets locked out

A dog drove around a cul-de-sac in reverse circles for more than an hour after he got accidentally locked inside his owner's car.

The incident took place in St Lucie, Florida, when the driver stepped out his car after making a wrong turn.

Once he had left the car, black Labrador Max accidentally put the vehicle into reverse and cruised in circles for 60 minutes.

During the trip, the animal hit a postbox and took out a rubbish bin.

The owner had to call police for help (OKCFOX)

Police were called after Max's owner could not get into the car.

The owner handed police an extra car fob, but it did not work due to a dead battery.

Officers eventually opened the car by entering a code on a keypad on the driver's side door.

Neighbour Anne Sabol said Max was in high spirits after being rescued, adding he "jumped out of the car, wagging his tail".

Port St Lucie Police said: "No injuries were reported, and the car sustained minor damage. Max was fine, healthy and happy!"
