Dramatic video caught fire crews rushing to a street in Tameside after the loft of a home caught fire.

A nearby resident captured the scenes on camera, watching on as the fire service arrived to put out the flames.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News he said: "This is a semi-detached residential property at the bottom end of Hazelhurst Road.

"It appears that the fire started on the first floor, there was smoke when I first started videoing and then you can see flames coming out of the roof.

"The fire service arrived very quickly and were checking to see whether everybody was out and then set about putting it out.

"They're still here clearing up now, it's quite a mess.

"I was really impressed with the speed and efficiency they put the fire out with, it was only around five to ten minutes."

The M.E.N understands all people inside the house were able to evacuate themselves before the fire service arrived.

Three crews from Ashton, Stalybridge, and Mossley rushed to the scene, with an aerial platform from Bolton Central also heading to the home.

A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just after 2pm on Saturday 25 September, crews were called to reports of a fire at a home on Hazelhurst Road, Ashton.

“Three fire engines from Ashton, Stalybridge and Mossley, as well as the aerial platform from Bolton Central, quickly attended the incident, which involved the loft bedroom of the property.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire."

Crews were still at the scene shortly after 4pm.
