Moment coronavirus patient 'escorted to Royal Liverpool by police convoy'

This is said to be the moment a coronavirus patient was escorted to the Royal Liverpool Hospital by men in hazmat suits.

Yesterday (February 27), the department of health confirmed two more people have tested positive for coronavirus in England.

The two patients have been transferred to NHS infection centres in Royal Liverpool Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital, London, after contracting the virus in Italy and Tenerife.

One of the cases is understood to be a parent from Burbage Primary School in Buxton, Derbyshire, who caught the virus while in Tenerife.

Buxton resident Zoe Milly Jones posted a video on Twitter showing an ambulance and police convoy with their lights flashing.

According to Derbyshire Times , Ms Jones was on Clifton Road, Buxton, at around 10.45pm on February 26 when she noticed the ambulances.

She said they had left Stockport and stopped at a property in Buxton before leaving the area.

Ms Jones added that the ambulance, escorted by police, then took the patient to Royal Liverpool Hospital.

She captioned the post on Twitter: "Just followed two ambulances and two response units from Stockport, to Buxton on blue lights in convoy.

"Where men in Hazmat suits entered a property, and seemingly put someone in an ambulance.

"Then blue light convoyed back to Stockport. "

An ECHO reader said he saw a convoy of emergency service vehicles pull into the Royal Liverpool Hospital at around 1am on Thursday morning.

The Department of Health has been contacted by the ECHO for comment.

The first case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Wales, as two more were identified in England - bringing the total number in the UK to 19.
