Moment Celtic fan is pranked by Rangers supporting ex with brilliant birthday cake joke

Hilarious video footage captures the moment a Celtic fan was pranked by his Rangers supporting ex with a brilliant birthday cake joke.

Ross Jamieson was all smiles as he sliced into the sponge and buttercream cake - decorated in green and white with his favourite team’s badge - during his 34th birthday meal in Frankie and Benny’s at the XSite Braehead on Tuesday night.

But he was left more than a little shocked upon lifting up the wedge to see blue, white and red layers inside.

Ross was joined at his birthday meal by his two daughters, ten-year-old Tia and five-year-old Lexi, their mum and his ex partner, Samantha Donald, and her current partner John-James Rodger who is also pals with Ross. (Samantha Donald)

The moment sparked lots of laughter at the table, where Ross was joined by his two daughters, ten-year-old Tia and five-year-old Lexi, their mum and his ex partner, Samantha Donald, and her current partner John-James Rodger who is also pals with Ross.

Samantha, a Rangers fan, told the Record she came up with the idea about three weeks ago and asked her partner’s mum, Celia Rodgers, to make the cake as she runs a cake making business called Cilla’s Cakey Comforts.

Samantha, 31, from Paisley, said: “She said I was evil when I asked her to do it - but I knew he would take it well. It was a bit of banter.

“It was funny because the waitress was there saying to him, ‘are you a big Celtic fan?’ and then he takes the slice of cake and looks shocked and did not expect it.

“Me and my partner dropped it off at the restaurant about an hour before the meal, so the waiters and waitresses knew about it.

“I don’t think I’ll ever forget it.”

Samantha said she and Ross were together for about ten years and have known each other for longer and to this day remain good friends.

The video has also been shared by the Cilla's Cake Comforts Facebook page and has sparked plenty of reaction.

Jayne McGonigle posted: "Brilliant, all for the banter."

Hugh Alison McCann added: "That's hilarious."

Jane Crawford wasn't too bothered about the football colours, commenting: "I could eat that right now."
