Moment Celtic & Ajax supporters clash during Como Cup match

Celtic and Ajax supporters clashed in the stands during the Como Cup match this evening.

Footage shared on social media showed supporters in close proximity and only separated by fencing at the Stadio Comuncal Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

Cups of alcohol were lobbed between the rival supporters as a number of fans from either end raced to the fence to exchange verbals.

In some video footage, supporters can be seen attempting to push through the barricade between the opposition fans.

Stewards stepped in after a rush to the barrier with the angry supporters on either side dispersed back into the seating in the stadium.

According to journalist and documentary filmmaker Liam O'Hare, the confrontation began due to Palestinian flags being displayed by Celtic supporters.

It's alleged Ajax supporters reacted to the show of support for Palestine, leading to the ugly scenes in the stands during the pre-season competition.

Celtic went in level at the break in Como but fell to a 5-1 defeat in the end. They will now play Al Ahli in the third-place match on Saturday.
