Moment car is 'doused in petrol' and set alight in south Manchester

This is the shocking moment a car was 'doused in petrol' and set alight in south Manchester.

The dramatic footage captured on a CCTV camera appears to show a man pouring accelerant onto two cars before they burst into flames.

The owner of one of the cars, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she believes the man drove to the scene on Sandbach Avenue in Fallowfield, started the blaze then fled in his car.

Her Volkswagen Scirocco and her partner's BMW have both been left completely destroyed.

The owner said she was asleep in bed when she was woken up by her electronic doorbell.

"I was asleep at the back of the house and you can't hear anything from there", she told the M.E.N .

"We then heard the doorbell and went out and saw the fire brigade and just saw the car on fire.

"It just shocked me more than anything that someone went out of their way to set my car on fire."
