Moment brazen rock wielding thieves swipe motorbike in front of terrified Leeds Morrisons shoppers

Brazen thieves have been caught on video stealing a motorbike from outside a Leeds Morrisons in broad daylight - after bashing its lock off with a rock while onlookers could only watch.

The incident, captured in distressing footage, shows a group of four people, intimidating anyone who tried to intervene by brandishing a rock at them. The incident took place at a Morrisons supermarket in Leeds, where witnesses watched in horror as the gang forcefully removed the security lock and chain from a black and white Yamaha XT25 Serow.

Despite being surrounded by people filming the incident, the thieves seemed undeterred. Two of them stood guard on a separate motorbike, while another, wearing a silver helmet, used a rock to break the bike's lock.

Meanwhile, the fourth member menacingly circled around the targeted bike until the lock was successfully removed. Without hesitation, the thief hopped onto the stolen bike and swiftly rode away from the car park, leaving shocked bystanders in disbelief.

The thieves, who wore masks to hide their faces threatened to hit a security guard who tried to interven with a rock.

The gang made off with the bike after breaking the lock, as desperate onlookers tried to catch their number plates. In the video, one person is even heard saying: "'You can't see the registration number, can you?" while another says: "Hang on, I'm videoing them."

Police say the stolen bike was spotted later that evening but has not been recovered. A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 2.56pm yesterday, police received a report of a motorbike being stolen from outside the Morrisons store, in Otley Road, Guiseley.

"Officers attended and searched the area but were unable to trace the suspects. The stolen bike is believed to have been seen on CCTV in the Seacroft area at about 9.30pm last night, and enquiries are ongoing to locate the bike and to identify the thieves."

A £500 reward for the bike has now been posted online. A post by BikersUnited says: "Parked outside Morrisons Guiseley, next to cafe window. Four scrotes turn up on two stolen bikes on false plates.

"Smash disk lock off with a brick and threaten security guard with brick. Filmed by people in cafe other side of glass."
