Moment brawl breaks out in Leeds' Neighbourhood as punters hide under coats from smashed glass and flying bottles

This is the shocking moment a violent bar brawl broke out leaving an innocent man with a fractured skull.

The footage has been released after the four men who attacked the bystander during a brawl in a Leeds city centre bar have each been jailed for nearly seven years.

The main victim was left with a fractured skull and broken ribs after the fight broke out between two groups in the VIP area of Neighbourhood in Greek Street.

Bottles and glasses were also thrown towards the busy bar area during the senseless violence and a window was smashed with a bottle of Belvedere vodka.

The above CCTV footage shows the terrifying moment the fight broke out on March 18, 2018, and was played to jurors at a trial in January this year.

Seven men, aged 26 to 52, were all convicted of violent disorder.

Four of those defendants were also convicted of a section 18 assault - grievous bodily harm with intent. They were: Lamarr Edwards, Deva Lall, Michael Walden, Alain Ngue.

The other three defendants were each jailed for a year. They are called: Ashiq Illahi, Lotfi Abdellaoui and Omar Ahmed.

Leeds Crown Court heard the disturbance broke out between the two groups after Illahi's wife accused Lamarr Edwards of bumping into her.

Prosecutor Chloe Hudson said innocent people who were enjoying a night out had to cover themselves with coats to avoid being hit by flying bottles and glass.

One of the defendants, Lamarr Edwards, threw a vodka bottle through a door window, causing around £800 worth of damage.

The main victim, who was on a night out with his girlfriend, was knocked to the floor and assaulted with bottles, as well as being kicked and punched.

He suffered a fractured skull and broken ribs and had to undergo an emergency operation.

Miss Hudson said: "The complainant says that the whole incident has been life-changing.

"He has had problems with depression and confidence.

"He now gets very worried going out in Leeds. The incident has consumed his life for two years. He still has sleepless nights."

The manager of the bar was also injured during the attack, suffering damage to his teeth.

He also described in a victim statement how the incident had affected the business because it attracted from police and licencing authorities.

The defendants appeared in court via video link from custody in Leeds prison today (Thursday) for sentencing.
