Amazing footage shows the moment heroic bystanders saved the lives of a man and boy who got into difficulty while swimming in a lake.
The man misjudged the strength of a current when taking a dip at Reedley Beach in California to cool off as temperatures soared to 39C.
Jose Morales threw a life jacket to the man and he was then able to swim back to shore with the help of another brave bystander.
Soon afterwards Jose spotted the boy getting into difficulty in the lake and bravely rushed to him on his jet ski.
He then towed the panicked child back to shore on his water craft.
Describing rescuing the drowning man, Mr Morales told Action News: "He kept saying help, help and he kept going, he was fighting the current.
"Usually you don't fight the currents really strong.
"I just threw one of my life jackets at him."
Mr Morales, who was at the beach on a family day out, said: "I see the little kid going more in the deep. I just got my jet ski to see if he could hold onto it."
He explained he decided not to swim out to the struggling swimmers because of the unpredictable nature of the water.
"When its a situation like that you can end drowning to help him," he said.
Mr Morales' brave rescues comes just a day after five children nearly drowned swimming at the lake.
The children aged between four and17 were playing in the water on Saturday evening when one went underwater.
When the other children tried to help they also got into difficulty.
Sergeant David Omstead of Reedley Police, said: "A lot of alert people down there alerted one of our officers
"At which, they were able to pull everyone out of the river."
Reedley Police have one officer patrolling the beach in summer on weekends from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The force typically monitors for disturbances and alcohol.
All of the children who got into difficulty on Saturday were taken to hospital and are expected to fully recover.
