Moment BMW driver crashes into oncoming lorry caught on dashcam

This is the moment a BMW driver lost control of his car and crashed into a lorry.

The dash cam footage was recently posted to social media by Dorset Traffic Police, reports the Daily Record.

In a warning published alongside the video, the police wrote: "It's real life. Not a video game. We only get one go at it. Don't risk throwing it away."

The incident depicted in the footage actually happened last summer at Gravel Hill, Poole, but only recently came to court, according to the police.

Viewers can see the BMW driver ignoring hazard markings and overtaking a lorry, before losing control and slamming into another HGV.

Fortunately the driver of the oncoming lorry was able to react quickly, so they slowed down before impact.

The BMW driver was given a £400 fine and five penalty points at Poole Magistrates' Court, Dorset, police revealed on January 19.

A photograph taken at the scene shows the serious damage caused to the BMW, with the entire left side destroyed.

The driver and passenger who were in the oncoming truck have spoken out about their ordeal.

HGV driver Frances Ray-Williams, 55, from Birmingham, believes the driver got off "scot free" and she is still waiting for an apology.

She said: "He should have lost his license. He's a lucky man because I could see what was happening so I stopped my vehicle.

"I think he got away scot free, he showed no remorse at the time, he never even said sorry, and I'm still waiting on an apology."

Frances said the crash has had a profound impact on her life, adding: "My marriage has broken down because of it, I have suffered from a lot of stress from the crash. He knows the trauma he's caused me."
