Moment 4x4 driver gets stuck on sandbank after ignoring warnings from wardens

Beachgoers watched in shock as a 4x4 driver got caught out by the tide at a beach despite being warned "several times" of the risks.

The motorist had parked his car on Black Rock Sands, Morfa Bychan, and was allegedly warned several times that he was parking in a dangerous spot.

As the tide came in the car got stuck on a sandbank, but that didn't stop the driver from trying to make a quick getaway.

The footage shows the driver turn the car towards the waves in an attempt to stop it from tipping over.

The driver then stops the car before driving it straight in to the sea where it starts to float.

They immediately jump out of the vehicle but then return, seemingly to grab some of their belongings.

Ed Williams, who owns a caravan on a site nearby and took the footage, said: "I own a small caravan site here in Morfa Bychan so I have seen quite a lot over the years.

"It's more so now due to everyone holidaying here, I've never seen the beach so busy, it's crazy.

"He was offered help and advice before he went for it on his own accord.

"He was actually in a place where he shouldn't have been.

"There are lots of signs warning people of soft sand but some 4x4s take it upon themselves to risk it.

"It was a rebound spot for the tide coming around you.

"It's usually swimmers that get caught out on this particular sandbank.

"He was told to move but left it too late.

"Then he was advised to abandon it but he took it upon himself to try and get across but it didn't work.

"The beach wardens are doing a great job considering how busy it is and they were the ones that were advising the driver."

When Mr Williams returned at around 11pm the car was almost completely submerged.
