Mom, dad of missing Long Beach baby among gunshot victims, police say

Jan. 04--The mother and father of a missing Long Beach infant are among the three gunshot victims found in the residence from which the baby was taken, police said Sunday morning.

Long Beach police are continuing to seek the public's help in finding 3-week-old Eliza Delacruz, according to police spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

Officers responding to reports of a shooting about 6 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of West 51st Street found three adults suffering from gunshot wounds and the baby missing.

Investigators believe the man who shot the baby's parents and uncle -- her father's brother -- also left with the infant.

Two of the wounded adults were hospitalized in critical but stable condition Sunday morning, Arrona said. The third victim was treated and released. There was no further information released about the victims.

There were no details about the gunman available and authorities have not been able to issue an Amber Alert because they have no information about a vehicle the gunman may be using.

Police are asking that the infant, who weighs about 10 pounds, be turned in to a safe location.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Long Beach Police Department Communications Center at (562) 435-6711.

UPDATE

11:25 a.m.: The story has been updated to indicate that one of the victims has been released from the hospital.
