Molly McCann looking to help Liverpool take over Las Vegas in UFC Fight Night 191

Molly McCann is looking to help Liverpool take over Las Vegas on Saturday night on a UFC show with plenty of Merseyside fighters on the card.

McCann is going toe-to-toe with Ji Yeon Kim at UFC Fight Night 191, in an evening when Darren Till is the headline act and Paddy Pimblett makes his UFC debut.

A fourth Brit in the former of Tom Aspinall, from Manchester, means the union jack will be flying at full mast in Sin City - but it's Liverpool that could see the stars of the show.

McCann, a huge Everton fan, is looking to help make that happen and wants to bring UFC to Merseyside for a stadium show.

“I’m very much aware of what she brings to the table; she’s got a 10-inch reach on me, she’s fought the best in the world, she’s out training in Las Vegas – but I’m from Liverpool and I’m fighting on a Liverpool card," she told TalkSport.

“We carry something different with us in our spirit and style. The city is absolutely buzzing for us right now and we’re in a golden age of English and British MMA.

“We’ve all got to perform because we’ve all got to bring it back to Liverpool for a stadium show. I want it at Goodison Park but it will probably be Till’s card so I’ll have to go to Anfield!”

McCann has plenty to prove heading into the bout, which is the last of her four-fight deal with UFC and she's gone 1-2 so far.

“This is my last fight on the contract. It’s go big or go home. Before UFC London, I was told if I lose, that was me done. And you saw the performance I was able to pull out of the bag there. I’m not saying that’s the case now, but you’ve only got to read between the lines.

“I’m the underdog, I’m away from home; I’ve got everything to gain and nothing to lose. I’m 0-2, the pressure is not on me, it’s on her. She’s in Vegas, she trains at the Performance Institute, she’s the homegirl, but I’m the Meatball and everybody loves me over there.”
