Molly-Mae is not happy with producers after watching Love Island episodes back

Molly-Mae Hague has opened up about the Love Island experience after watching episodes back of the hit reality series.

The Manchester-based beauty, 20, says she's happy with her own portrayal on camera during her eight weeks on the ITV2 show which ended in July.

But Molly, who partied with her Love Island pals at Rosso restaurant to celebrate the launch of her new collection with Manchester fashion brand PrettyLittleThing, claims some of her fellow contestants didn't receive the same treatment.

"I think the producers in there really can portray you the way they want to portray you and to be honest I'm happy with how I came across," she told us ahead of the launch.

"There's not really anything I would change.

"It's a shame because I know some people in there who I got along with so well and who I think are great people didn't really get that great a reception on the outside and that's a shame.

"Watching the episodes back I think maybe they didn't really come across that well and I think it's hard because it just depends what's shown and how you come across."

Social media influencer Molly-Mae, who turned 20 during her time on the show, grew up in Hertfordshire but was drawn to Manchester for work.

She explained: "I was an influencer before Love Island and this is very much where it's happening influencing.

"It's very much where all the fast fashion brands are based, the locations here for pictures are great and I lot of my friends live up here and I wanted to start afresh.

"In wanted an apartment where I was proud to bring friends home to and I think in London I couldn't afford something that was a nice apartment. London is so expensive.

"In Manchester you can get a bit more for your money. I love it up here."

Molly-Mae was joined at the bash by 2019 Islanders including winner Amber Gill, Maura Higgins, Anna Vakili, Amy Hart and Francesca Allen, 2018 series favourites Georgia Steel, Ellie Brown and Stephanie Lam, Gabby Allen and Olivia Attwood from 2017 as well as ex Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas and his former Emmerdale actor brother Adam.

She says having her own PLT collection is "absolutely a dream come true" because she studied

"I've had a very, very large input in the collection and I went to PLT with a very strong idea of what I wanted," she said.

"I had a clear vision of what I wanted the collection to look like. I had a lot of companies approaching me wanting me to work with them but I knew PLT would be the best brand that could create my vision and make it a real thing. So it was definitely the right move for me."

She explained: "I studied fashion for two years in London and my dream was to be a fashion buyer.

"And then I discovered I'd rather go into styling so I looked into that for a while and then influencing came from that.

"From styling I ended up buying a lot of cool outfits myself and people followed me because of that and then it went from there. Love Island approached me and that's where we are now.

"It's a very wearable collection. I wanted to create something that was relatable and easy to wear - a collection of clothes where you don't have to worry about wearing it wrong.

"Wear it how you want to wear it and its still going to look stylish.

"They're pieces anyone can wear and pull off."

Asked about joining a long line of strong female ambassadors representing PLT on home turf and overseas, including Kylie Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Hailey Baldwin and Maya Jama, she said:  "I'm only 20 and at this age to have achieved this for me I can never have imagined it and it's honour that they've asked to work with me. It's a big deal."

Asked about adjusting to life after Love Island, she told us: "I've been okay. I've actually found it quite easy to get into the swing of things.

"Obviously it's a shock. You can never be fully prepared for what is in store but you have to take each day as it comes and go with the flow.

"Just take each day as it comes and try not to get carried away. You've got to remember who you are and who your real friends are. I'm taking it in my stride and just enjoying it.

"It's a time in my life that I'll never get back."

And with her every step of the way is her doting boyfriend Tommy, who asked her to become his official girlfriend during their time on the show.

"Tommy is really proud," she smiled.

"He's really excited, he's been behind it since the moment I told him about it and he's been really helpful. He's been with me every step of the way."

Asked if she might design some outfits for her man, she said: "He's likes his clothing but he's not really into it like I am. He's a sportsman, he's not too bothered about what he wears.

"A tracksuit is good enough for him."

And things are going swimmingly for the couple, who held hands at the party, after they fell for each other during their first date in a hot tub.

"For me becoming Tommy's girlfriend is a huge deal for me. I've been single for quite a few years now so to now be in a relationship is lovely," she said.

An ITV spokeswoman said: "Is is always our intention to produce a show that is a fair and accurate representation of life in the villa."
