Molly-Mae Hague shares her breastfeeding struggle and reason she had to stop

Molly-Mae Hague has shared with fans about stopping breastfeeding in he first vlog since giving birth to daughter Bambi in January. The former Love Island star was on top form as she shared a candid video on her YouTube channel entitled 'My first vlog back - spend the week with me.'

Molly-Mae, who welcomed Bambi with her partner Tommy Fury on January 23, explained that her breastfeeding journey ended after she got her period. "Even though I was breastfeeding I still had a period...that's the reason why I had to bring my breastfeeding journey to an end," she said.

"I exclusively breastfed for six weeks. I've had so many questions about it. I managed to get to six weeks which I was really really proud of. I didn't think I'd get this far."

She added: "Basically when you're breastfeeding you're not meant to have a period. I don't really know the science behind it," she admitted.

"But I came on my period whilst I was breastfeeding so that was an indicator to me that I wasn't producing enough milk, my milk supply just completely dried up. Bambi was sucking on my nipple and nothing was coming out, bless her, and she was getting so upset."

Cradling Bambi, Molly-Mae later in the vlog explained that the feeds were taking two hours at a time. "And she still wouldn't get enough," she said. "Half an hour later she was crying for more. She was literally latched on to my boob constantly because the poor girl couldn't get any milk out."

Molly, creative director for fashion brand PrettyLittleThing who met Manchester boxer Tommy on dating show Love Island in 2019, was thrilled to be back in front of the camera with her 1.78million subscribers, said: "I've started to feel glimpses of my old sefl creeping back through and it feels so good."

Two weeks ago she filmed an honest video about her journey into parenthood entitled 'The Truth', and the influencer became emotional as she discussed her feelings. She shared: "Nothing I say is making sense. My brain is jumbled and I don't feel like myself. It's not that I need more time to come back because I do feel ready to come back and want more than anything to come back to YouTube. I want it more than anything but maybe I've left it too long and I have so much to say that I feel overwhelmed and don't know where to begin."

Molly-Mae added: "Becoming a mum is the best thing to ever happen to me but it is also the hardest thing that has ever happened to me. I have found it really really hard, the one word to describe it, to describe the past two months would be overwhelming.

"Every single day you can't believe the 360 your life has taken, it is a very hard thing to wrap your head around, it is the biggest life change that no one can prepare you for."
