Molly-Mae Hague fears backlash as she reveals what she eats in a day

Love Island's Molly-Mae Hague has opened up to fans about what she eats in a day while getting in shape for work.

The Manchester-based reality star revealed her diet in a day in the life video shared on her YouTube channel.

She told fans that she's prepared for a backlash after eating a protein shake for breakfast followed by a salad for lunch and a salad for her dinner.

The 21-year-old says she's had a 'complete lifestyle change' over the past three months because she wants to feel confident on photo shoots as we emerge from lockdown.

"I've completely flipped my life upside down in terms of everything - exercise, food, water intake. Okay I still don't drink enough water," she said into the camera.

"I have been on a journey with my body, funding out what works for my body, what I need for my body to feel good."

Molly-Mae added: "I'm proud I've managed to turn over a leaf and feel so much better about myself.

"I literally feel like a new person."

Molly-Mae, who is dating Manchester boxer Tommy Fury who she met on the ITV2 dating show Love Island in 2019, explained: "For the last few months I have been eating in a slight calorie deficit just to get my body back to a point where I can go on shoots and feel confident."

She told fans that she had switched eating cereals for a protein shake in the morning.

She then grazed on mango, melon, pineapple, grapes, followed by a dried fruit and nut bar and popcorn.

For lunch she ate sweet potato mash, chicken, guacamole, falafel and broccoli.

Back at home she reported back that her 'salad' had kept her full throughout the day before making another salad in the evening consisting of spicy Mexican rice, sweetcorn, bacon rashers, Quorn turkey ham, hummus and coleslaw.

The following day she was back on camera to say she was expecting some criticism, but said her diet felt right for her.

She said: "I hope you guys liked seeing what I eat in a day. Speaking to my sister again about it she was like 'I think you're going to get loads of backlash for this video.'

"Some people are going to say it's too little, some people are going to say it's too much. I feel like with these kind of videos you're never going to please everyone.

"For me that day of eating kept me energised, kept me full, happy and healthy."

Molly-Mae stressed that there are dietitians and fitness gurus who will know more than she does about 'eating clean' and healthy.

Speaking about future exotic shoots overseas she explained: "For a shoot like that I'd want to feel confident in my body.

"On my last photo-shoot I wasn't at all.

"I'm not going to feel bad for obviously wanting to get into a little bit of shape.

"I feel like I probably will get backlash and people will be like 'she's not eating enough'."
