Mollie King says she can’t wait for married life with Stuart Broad ahead of wedding

Mollie King has said she cannot wait to spend every day with her beau Stuart Broad ahead of her upcoming wedding to the cricketer.

The former Saturdays singer, 34, said she hopes to set a date to tie the knot with the England bowler this year after their plans got held up due to Covid.

Speaking on an Instagram live with the founder of JSHealth Vitamins Jessica Sepel, she said: “We got engaged basically a year ago and it’s been one of those things where, I want to just get planning this right here, right now.

“I’ve been dreaming of this since I was like six years old. But Stuart had to leave straight away the next day after he popped the question.

“I’m planning for it already, he’s asked the question and he’s dashed!” she joked.

King revealed she had got engaged to Broad, 35, on New Year’s Day last year by sharing a snap of the pair kissing with her engagement ring on show to her Instagram.

Talking about the challenges of organising the wedding during the pandemic, King said “things did get slightly held up” due to Covid restrictions.

She explained: “The minute I started looking into venues and stuff, everybody straight away was saying at the moment we have to have Plan A and Plan B.

“Because at that time last year it was very much at the stage where the couples can have their first dance but most of your wedding guests need to be sat down at tables, not being able to kind of get up and mingle with each other.

“So thinking about that we thought, let’s just pause this for a second.”

King said she is still deciding on whether to have a destination wedding or get married in the UK.

“I don’t know whether to go quite small and have family and literally just my bridesmaids or do I just go for it and go, ‘right Mol, just get on with it and go big’?”

She added that she is “looking forward to married life and just spending everyday with Stu”.

The singer also spoke about how she manages her mental health during stressful periods, and does so by speaking to loved ones and doing regular exercise.

She continued: “I’m quite an anxious person in general and I’ve noticed that, it was actually Stuart who noticed it to be fair, he was like, ‘you’re so much healthier in your mind when you’ve actually been exercising’.

“I think I can be one of those people who just sits and worries about things.

“I go over and over things in my head and that calmed down so much when I’ve actually been out, whether it’s going for a bike ride or doing body weight stuff or a HIIT class, I feel like it all slows down and I can actually process my thoughts way better.”

King said that during the start of the beginning she moved in with her fiancé in Nottingham and “felt a lot of anxiety there” due to not being able to see her family.

However, speaking to her parents and sisters on the phone helped reduce feelings of anxiety during the uncertain time, she said.

“I was really worried about everyone’s health, and then the more it felt like you knew what was going on, the more it became a bit more of a routine, and I was able to make sure I made exercise like a daily thing, but more than anything it was about jumping on the phone.”

King also spoke about how her mental health took a hit when her girl band The Saturdays decided to go on a hiatus in 2014.

She reflected it was a “very anxious time” for her due to going from being extremely busy to having an “empty diary”.

She told Australian nutritionist Jessica Sepel: “We were like okay, we’re going to go on a hiatus here and take a bit of a break.

“I think that definitely was a very anxious time for me because it had been my life and being in a pop band was all I had ever dreamed of since I was six years old.

“To suddenly say, okay we’re going to pause this here, it felt like everything had turned upside down and it had gone from being like you looked at your diary and there wasn’t a day off to suddenly being like, wow. it’s an empty diary.

“I can do what i want and even though that’s a luxury, I’m used to being busy.

“[It was a] big transition and definitely I think that’s when I did start having a bit of anxiety and it’s something that I work on now and I’m very aware of it.”
