BBC Radio 1 presenter Mollie King said it was a “real wake-up call” after she was rushed to A&E after she fainted and hit her head.

The 39-year-old, who co-hosts the afternoon radio show, the Matt and Mollie show, alongside Matthew Edmondson, revealed she has been absent for the past few weeks after she suddenly collapsed onto her bathroom floor after coming home late from work.

King, who was formerly part of girl group, The Saturdays, said the incident happened at 4am.

In a post shared on Monday, she told her million followers on Instagram that the fall came as a “huge shock”, however, she felt “grateful” that she had her partner, former cricketer Stuart Broad, with her.

She said: “It’s been a real wake-up call that I need to make some time to get my strength back, not just for my own health, but so I can be the best version of myself for my family too.

“Yesterday was my first day doing anything social.

“After what has felt like a very long two weeks, it was amazing to get out and spend time with my girls.

“We even had the surprise of spotting Daddy on a big screen, which made us all smile.”

The presenter, who has been presenting on Radio 1 since 2018, said she will be back on the radio alongside her Edmondson on Monday.
