Molde reveal detail of Ed Woodward Manchester United conversation

Manchester United will pay Molde a compensation package after they announced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as permanent manager.

Solskjaer was manager at the Norwegian side when United approached him in December to take over from Jose Mourinho on a temporary basis until the end of the season but now he has been named manager on a permanent basis.

The club's managing director Oystein Neerland confirmed a specific amount hadn't been agreed.

"It has been speculated that there has been such an agreement, but it has not been. We get a compensation, but there is a case between the club," Neerland told Norwegian outlet VG.

"I have had contact with Ed Woodward yesterday and today. Then Ole communicated this to us today."

Solskjaer had been manager at Molde since 2015 and Neerland was happy a decision had been reached so the rumours would come to an end.

"It is first and foremost fantastic. It is impressive by Ole Gunnar to be in a situation where it is possible to get such a good offer. For us as a club it is good to get a clarification," he added.

"When we finish this day here, I don't have to comment on United rumors and can concentrate 100 per cent on Molde Football Club, says Neerland."
